&other stories animal testing and vegan policy

I reached out to &other stories, a H&M company with a beauty line recently to get more information whether their products are suitable for vegans. Here‘s the first answer I received (important parts bolded by me):

Hello Kathrin,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

Please forgive me for not sticking with the order you lay out in your query. I regret that we don’t have a list of vegan items available for purchase. If you’d like to enquire about a specific item, we can always check with the design people, but a running count of such items is not kept.

We are a part of the parent company, Hennes and Mauritz Ltd and conform to all their policies, standards and practices. These are strictly against animal testing and we require our suppliers to subscribe to the code of ethics too. You may find all our statements on that matter here:

H&M Code of Ethics FAQ

Should you require additional information, please see the further actions and policies of our group here:

Please don’t hesitate to contact us again if you have any further questions.

Have a lovely day!

As you see, their answer was a bit vague. I replied asking about their Lip Colour lipsticks whose ingredients seemed vegan-friendly and got the following answer:

Hello Kathrin,

Thanks for your interest in our Lip Colour lipsticks.

As a vegan friendly brand we do not use Carmine in our lipsticks. However, we can not guarantee that all our products are free of animal origin.

Thank you for taking your time to contact us and I hope you have a lovely day!

Best wishes,

So, in short, they do not have a list of vegan products and cannot guarantee which products might be vegan – thus making them a brand that I‘d not consider as having vegan options for now.
